If you’ve been following along, you may have noticed that things have been pushed back.
You always hear that construction is never done on time. And now, experiencing it firsthand, you really get to understand why.
To make Slate truly great and incomparable, there are many steps that we are taking that unfortunately increase the time of buildout. This includes moving and completely redoing the HVAC, repainting the ceiling, adding layers of sound-absorbing wood paneling and plant wall, five layers of lights per court, Pickleball Vision/Jukebox (which is our in-house hardware and software on-court technology that will blow your mind), etc.
Oh, lest we forget the two-story amenity section. Let’s just say it’s a bit more involved than one story! Structural engineering really becomes a thing with this bad boy. And don’t get me started on the permit process.
And, with something as complex as Slate’s creation, there are bound to be “snafus”. For example, recently we got delayed a few days due to rain that pushed back HVAC move and roof repair. That means painting the roof had to be delayed, which then pushed back court installation because roof painting requires lifts that can’t move on our high-end court surface without damaging it! This is just one example of how delays start and can have a butterfly effect.
The whole team is doing our absolute best to get things ready before the end of fall, and I am happy to state with confidence that we are so close. We appreciate your patience and understanding. The wait will absolutely be worth it. Slate will be the new standard for the racquets industry, not just pickleball. We cannot wait to welcome you.
