Pre-Demolition Work Has Begun!

Pre-Demolition Work Has Begun!

Many aspects of Slate’s development are now set in motion since the lease signing. This includes the substantial permitting process with Cook County. There are permits for plumbing, electrical, the liquor business license, but the one we need immediately is the demolition permit. We gotta knock down a lot of walls! Since part of our location was once a restaurant called Kegon (then Oshio temporarily), there is a significant amount of demolition needed with all the old kitchen installations, bathrooms, flooring, raised dining area, etc.

What we are permitted to do is start clearing out some of the non-structural materials and continue concept and interior design development with our general contractor by taking measurements and testing flooring material. I cannot resist bringing this up once again, but Slate Pickleball Club will be the most beautiful indoor racquet club you have ever seen. It will be modern, sleek, with touches of the exotic, all throughout our 16,000 square feet of space. We have architectural renders coming in, we are looking forward to sharing those!

Regarding marketing, program development, software needs, hiring, etc., our to-do list is significant, but we are making fantastic progress on that front. We are so excited to share how our program will be designed and presented, it is truly groundbreaking for the industry. And it is going to be so much fun and rewarding for our members.
