Ah, the ole blog post. It’s been too long!
As I write this, I’m getting the option for AI Assistant from the WordPress blog editor. That wasn’t there when I wrote the last Slate blog back in April. That’s how long it’s been I suppose! It’s funny, I was actually was an author before I started Slate, or at least, wannabe author. So I feel I have some sort of competent sense of writing and editing and the such.
I’m starting to notice a lot of AI seeping into marketing and content creation. Sometimes, it’s a bit obvious. The vocabulary, the perfect grammar, the EM-hash, the three comma lists, etc. It all sounds pretty good, but I enjoy writing our own marketing to create our own unique voice.
I get it. Writing well is hard! I spent most of my adult life aspiring to be a fiction author, studying rhetoric, reading the classics, memorizing and expanding my vocabulary. AI certainly can make you sound well spoken and professional. But maybe it’s better to write something yourself and have AI touch it up. Or maybe not. Whatever works!
This isn’t even the original impetus for writing this blog which was just to touch base before boldly heading into the New Year.
A lot of positive stuff has happened, but I think the most exciting thing about seeing Slate get off the ground is how the programming has been received. Our amazing team has proven that our developmental SLATE program is second-to-none. We are developing players faster and funner than anywhere else, from juniors to adults. Thank you all for trusting us and being part of this unique thing we’re doing.
Reflection going into the New Year…Special Events! We want to throw the best pickleball parties at Slate, so we’re working hard on getting some awesome member events going. We’re also looking to get a singles weekend event going for those looking to mingle! This will be inspired by another entrepreneurial endeavor…a multi-day social mesh experience to create new relationships in a welcoming and healthy environment.
Also seeing where we can add a few more Level-Based Open Plays/unique leagues, we know our members love them! And getting CIPA stronger…come on local clubs, time to stop paying startups to run leagues in your facility. We’ve got you covered!
